RE: [DL] HELP - Hindrances & Edges
I'm going to take your questions specifically as opposed to paraphrasing the
sections on Hindrances and Edges. Maybe that will make it clearer for you.
>So here's the situation:
>In the 1877 PHB (page49) it says "players can take up to 10 points in
Hindrances" First question - take 10 points from >where? Or are they given
ten points to spend if they want.
You have to look at the definition of Hindrances first. Hindrances give a
player points that can be spent on purchasing Edges or Aptitudes. Thus a
player is limited to taking 10 points worth of Hindrances, giving him 10
extra points to use to purchase Edges or Aptitudes.
>Then it says "The points from these can be used to buy Edges (which we'll
get to in a little bit) or more Aptitudes."
>Second question - where is this mentioned later on? I couldn't find it
anywhere, can someone give me a page number.
I think you're confused by the wording. I believe you think they will "get
to" a section on how they "can be used to buy." In actuality, it is
referring to the fact it will "get to" a section describing Edges. Edges
and Hindrances are of equivalent point value. Therefore, if a player has 10
points in Hindrances, they can purchase 10 points worth of Edges.
>Bottom line here is that I have no idea how many points a PC gets in
Hindrances or Edges. Help! Can someone please shed >some light on this for
me, thanks.
Light shedding has been attempted. Hopefully, this helped... and you don't
mind that it was an EVIL light. :)

world smells like that. I love the smell of ghost rock in the morning. You
know, one time we had a hill bombed, for twelve hours. When it was all over
I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' Yank body. The
smell, you know that sulphurous smell, the whole hill. Smelled like...
victory. Someday this war's gonna end..."
