All the Hinderances are listed with a point value. A player can take as
many or as few (or no) Hinderances as they like, as long as the total
point value of all Hinderances selected doesn't exceed 10. The point
value of the Hinderances taken can then be spent on Edges (which also
have point values) or on regular skills (Aptitudes). Note that Edges
can only be bought using points gained from Hinderances.
Or look at it this way -- you don't spend points on Hinderances, you get
points for taking Hinderances. But you max out at 10 points gained.
Those points can be spent just like the rest of your character points
(from the Knowledge/Cognition/Smarts die types) on skills, or like the
special points they are you can spend them on Edges.
Does that help, or just fog things up more?
