Doesn't the barret have some sort of muzzle break on the end to begin with?

A lot of games (both ocmputer and RPG) seem to give short ranges for weapons.
Jagged alliance 2 was terrible for this, I'm sure a pistol can shoot further than
10-15 metres.
Although in HOE there doesn't appear to be any limit to how far a bullet can
travel. with an open ended system, it would be possible to get quite a bit of
distance. I can see Stone taking out the posse by firing bullets over the
horizon.
While messing around with the juker rules we created the Anti Squirrel Assult
Pistol. The size of a handgun, it is a compact railgun doing 1d4 damage per
round, ROF 40 with a 500 round clip, 1 drain per burst, range increment 500.
This could then be fitted with a truck sized computer aiming/recoil compensation
system to allow chracters to shoot at orbital stations with only a -6 penalty.
Add a cyborg with a targeting computer, and you can start chipping the paint off
those old orbital platforms!

There's the official damage reduction then.
