This sounds a lot like one of the guns in Fallout 2. It was just like you
described it. . .a rifle with a shortened barrel and no stock. I can't
remember how they dealt with it, but you might want to look into it.
Heck, maybe some of the people on the list can help you with it. .
.otherwise just go to a good Fallout 2 website and check out the weapons.
I think it was called a .223 Pistol.
