I've adopted a house rule that if the player doesn't like their initial
draw, they can pick 2d12, 4d10, 2d10, 3d8, 1d6, 4d6, 3d6, 3d6, 2d6, 2d6 for
their stats.  Those are the stats that are what most of the book archetypes
are based off of.  
It gives a good baseline power level for all the characters as most
concepts can be fit in under this spread.  And of course, you could always
get lucky.  No mysterious pasts if you take the default though.
