If you are concerned about the card pull giving unbalanced characters
(either too powerful or too weak), or want people to make up characters
without a witness present, you might try what we do for Live Action events.
Each character has a set number of dice to spend on the stats. In the case
of our Live Action events, we use 25d80.
If you wanted a 3d10 in something, for example, you take 3 from the 25, and
10 from the 80, leaving you with 22d70. Your average stat will be 2.5d8,
which can give you a decent spread without uber characters. For Mysterious
Past, we draw cards once we have a bunch of characters, and see who comes up
with the Joker (it makes it easier on us to filter through them all)
