No. This is not right. Said Templar would roll:
2d8 for the sword.
A str. check (3d10, taking the highest)
Then add the two together.
So effectively he's rolling 3d10+2d8, but only keeping/applying the
highest of the 3d10.
He rolls:
for 2d8 - 6, 8 +2(on the reroll)
for 3d10 - 3, 5, 9
He takes the highest of the d10 rolls (the 9) and adds that to the damage
roll:
6 + 8+2 + 9 = 25 points of damage, or 4 wounds.

Consequently the same templar would roll 3d10 for a punch, and simply take
the highest.
He rolls:
3, 8, 10 +5(on the reroll)
He does 15 wind.
