But then Twilight 2000 had a simple d4 roll to determine a character's
initiative (as a stat, once for all time), which in turn determined both
the character's number of actions per turn and the number of wounds the
character could sustain and still be active (wounds subtracted, among other
things, from initiative, and the character with 0 initiative couldn't
move).  So much for realism achieved through cube roots ...
