Hi, folks. I'm Charles, and I'm the new HOE Brand Manager. As mentioned
above, the address for general questions is deadlands@aol.com. If you've
got a question that absolutely, positively cannot be answered by anyone
but me, feel free to send it directly to me, or, preferably, to post it
to this list with a [Charles] in the subject line.

Shane, Hal and I are happy to answer questions, but please, please
remember that we are very busy putting out great books on a tight
schedule. We like to chat and to help, but sometimes we can be a little
overwhelmed (at other times, we're a lot overwhelmed). Have mercy on
us--use the deadlands@aol.com when you can. Zeke (who answers questions
at that address) will give you a definitive and authoritative answer.

OK, all that having been said, here's one answer right off the bat:

There are a few other small loopholes specified in the upcoming character
books. For example, a greenie syker (but not a full-fledge syker) =can=
become a Templar. In general, the rule stands: you cannot have multiple
arcane backgrounds in HOE. But there are ways for characters with one
arcane background to have access to other arcane powers...
