Its probably a good idea. I'm kinda suprised its not already there.
We often fail to take into consideration that we live in a post television, linguistically homogonized country. Anymore you can maybe tell what region of the country the person is from, maybe, but thats about it. There was a time, prior to widespread radiophoinic communication, when your dialect would indicate region, state, county, and in large cities neighborhood of your home.
As a side to this, you should try reading the letters of some of the soldiers of the American Civil War. They wrote very phoneticly and some of the dialects can really show up. It can take a while to realize that something spelled HAWRA is HERE or SOGA is SOLDIER.
