I remember I ran a game once with a Mohave Rattler that was winded...  I think the group managed to do 1 or 2 wounds to it, and lots of wind.  They just kept shooting it with those little pistols, and one guy was hacking away with a sword.  I had to spend a ton of chips to keep the thing up.  After that session I decided that anything that big that gets winded shouldn't pass out.  It just decides that this meal isn't worth that much trouble and runs away.
