You know, I *hate* that attitude! If a player is going to willfully
withhold information that the GM gives, why bother playing with a group?
Find a GM to run a solo adventure for you!
I don't know, I think it has its place. I ran a campaign in HoE for a while with a Templar and a Doomsayer, both of whom were getting instructions from their respective leaders that were contrary to the 'group' goal. I never gave them any instructions that they had to keep the information secret (though they knew there could be repercussions if they failed their mission, and one of them did eventually go against orders), they decided to keep their real goals secret. They also kept information they'd learned from their leaders secret from the group, lest it incriminate them.
Inter-posse squabbling is part of what has made our games really interesting. In real life, personalities conflict, why should the game be any different? I think it's important to note that it's never gotten completely out of control, however. The posse has always managed to come together when the chips are down.
