Re: [DL] HELP - Hindrances & Edges
you can take as many hinderances as you want, as long as the points gained
do not exceed 10..
for example you could take bad eyes at 5 and death wish at 5 and be done..
you'd be nearly blind with a death wish.. 2 hinderances, 10 points gained
or you can take a low enemy, 1 point, a minor ailment, 1 point, a husky big
'un, 1 point, a minor habit fer 1, and a mild habit fer 1 more, heavy
sleeper fer 1, intolerance fer 1, loco at 1, and be a kid at 2 points.. 9
hinderances but only 10 points
hinderences give you extra points to buy edges and/or aptitudes.
the play has points to buy apititudes = to:
the die types of knowledge, smarts and cofnition. [page 38 of the players
book] so if you have 2d8 knowledge, 3d6 smarts, and 1d12 in cognition. you
have 26 points to spend on aptittudes.. you ignore the number of dice, like
the 2 in 2d8, but add up the die type, d8 + d6 + d12 = 26.

Subject: [DL] HELP - Hindrances & Edges
Howdy ya'll,
My Marshal brock. I'm getting ready to start my first Saga in a few weeks
and realized I found something I couldn't answer.
And as an FYI, I have almost all of the books, sup, box sets and adventures
for Deadlands. I've been reading and learning for about 3 months now, but
finally was able to get a group together.
So here's the situation:
In the 1877 PHB (page49) it says "players can take up to 10 points in
Hindrances" First question - take 10 points from where? Or are they given
ten points to spend if they want.
Then it says "The points from these can be used to buy Edges (which we'll
get to in a little bit) or more Aptitudes."
Second question - where is this mentioned later on? I could n't find it
anywhere, can someone give me a page number.
Bottom line here is that I have no idea how many points a PC gets in
Hindrances or Edges. Help! Can someone please shed some light on this for
me, thanks.
~Marshal Brock~
BANG ... You're dead.
