I suppose that could work--they would then be expansions of Tricks rather
than replacements. Although personally i'd prefer to see my characters by
Tricks that did other stuff than just make their damage higher. I of
course am not an expert in the rules by any stretch of the imagination, but
my assumption is that you can stack Tricks anyways--thus, I get 3 extra
successes on my roll and I know the Extra Damage Trick, thus I can add 3
extra dice or use it any a combintation of other Tricks.

My way is more expensive in actual dice rolls (need more successes) and
this other way is more expensive in xp (although you will still need more
successes). In the end, any Guide must think about what effect they want a
mechanic to make--and I'd rather encourage a greater repetoire of Tricks
for hte characters and let them use whichever they wish in whatever combo
makes sense (even dumping multiple successes into damage), rather than
encourage them to limit their options (Have several Tricks that increase
damage).

But Robbie's Mantra (Do what works for your game) always applies. I think
the stuff I quoted is a better option than increasing the cost of the
Trick. Charge 10 each for them, but make them spend a success on Ex. Dam.
before they can spend the 2 on Even More.

Just IMO, of course.
