Jaimie, your husband is the expert here, but I disagree. Color
added to linseed oil will produce as dark a shade as desired.
The linseed oil shade is a good deal darker than the corn oil
stain, therefore it will cover it. But to be sure, since we don't
know what kind of wood we are talking about, I would take a scrap
piece of wood, douse it with corn oil, then apply one or two coats of
linseed oil. That is the acid test.
I am not convinced that corn oil spread over the entire floor
wouldn't attract wood
eating pests. I agree the sealant would take care of the top,but what
about the bottom of the wood? I don't know the answer here. Maybe
your husband does.
I would not use any kind of sealant on my floors for environmental
reasons. But it is a choice many people make.
