Re: [pyrnet] Flooring Problem
Actually, My husband is a Painter and Oils are his specialty. He wanted me
to jump in here and say that if you switch to linseed oil or anything else,
it will show the paw prints because the oils are different colors. The best
thing to do is seal it will a full coat of corn oil and finish it up with
some Thompsons Water Seal or other floor sealant. I would hate to see your
new floor have permanent paw prints in it.
Just my Hubby's Professional opinion...

Julie gives good advice.
There may be another option, though.
If you like 'Amish floors' like those beautiful
wood floors you find in their homes, I don't think the corn oil would
be noticeable, if you treated the floors with boiled linseed
oil (linseed oil and denatured alcohol). It requires doing perhaps
three times the first
year, but is not much of a problem, because the best way to apply it
is with a clean, mop. Dip it in the stuff and then spread it with
the mop. I would talk with an Amishman or woman to get insider tips
on applying it and maintaining it. But it would turn the bare wood
into a work of beauty and solve your corn oil problem at the same
time.
