LOL! Hermit, your tag line is always good for a
giggle! Anyway, being livestock challeneged myself <G> I have no clue on
how such things would best work. But, I'll give you my opinion from what i've
read on the LGD lists. In areas of heavy predation, or large predators such as
wolves and big cats, or packs of roaming feral dogs, 2, 3 or 4 adult Pyrs work
together. For the safety of the dogs as well as the livestock. Smaller
operations, where the owner and his rifle are handy, one dog should do just
fine. As far as the age of when a young dog can be fully trusted with stock, I
think that depends on the individual dog, and possibly how much working stock is
in the bloodline, but not necessarily. There are Pyrs from show lines that work
quite well. And a well started LGD is a good worker. JMHO
