Another note, regarding the book "Out of Harms Way"..

She has a whole section of the book that tells you what you need to assemble 
disaster kits for each of your animals, food, photographs (in case you do 
get separated), shot records, first aid kit, etc...
Lots of helpful things that I wouldn't even have considered.

She says to check with your vet to see if they have a disaster plan, in case 
your pet is injured..

There is so much info, like having a buddy system in your neighborhood to 
help each other...can't give it all here, but it is a good reference.  The 
stories are great, too.
