I used to have my own chickens and didn't worry about the eggs I
got from them. Wouldn't feed a raw store bought egg for any
amount of money. Years ago I was told by an old Piney (that's
what they called the native people in the area where I lived)
that the way to tell a fresh egg from an old egg was when you
crack it into a frying pan, if the egg white spreads out, it's
old, if it forms a tight circle around the yolk it's fresh. Have
had very few store bought eggs form tight circles around yolks.
(BTW I'm a native Clamdigger, which is what they call the natives
that come from where I was born and raised on the Jersey Coast)
