Can not remember having a problem. Soft stools from time to time (they get
this from veggies etc occasionally) but never the squirt out the back
uncontrollable, stick to fur, stinky stuff :-). They have never thrown up
as a result of a 'stomach upset' either that I can ever remember. But then
they have been raised on a large variety of raw foods and IMO their immune
systems are as a result strong. They are therefore well able to handle any
little 'assaults' on their system, and are well placed to fight it if a 'big
one' (which might not necessarily come from the food I give them) happens to
come along. Immunity is pretty much 'use it or lose it' after all. I can
see how dogs not used to getting such foods on a regular basis may have a
problem with them when they do get a hold of them. I bet though that if
they kept getting them, the problems would abate significantly :-).

I have a human example which IMO is a good example of this. I spent a while
in Borneo a few years back. One of the people I was travelling with was
very paranoid about 'bacteria' (she was a lab assistant and said she had
seen enough creepy-crawlies under the microscope and didn't want any of it
thankyou :-) ) She spent all her time wiping every surface with medi-wipes
before she touched it and refusing to eat ANYTHING that wasn't imported if
she could help it (difficult in small villages and a research station in the
middle of the jungle! ). The rest of us ate in the local markets etc etc,
used basic precautions, but did not go overboard. Guess who was the only
one who got really, gut wrenchingly, sick.

As for good food handling practices. I agree these are important as well.
I certainly try to observe them as much as possible. More for my own benefit
though.
