[PyrNet-L] 6 year old female

Dear Everyone,
I just found out about this "pyrnet" last night.  Everyone seems to care a lot
for these dogs.  Yesterday I met my first one, Alice.  Her owner died not too
long ago and I'm thinking of adopting her.  At first meeting, she seems to
come with no serious problems, only a food issue maybe (growling when told to
go away from the dinner table).  I've been told she has no barking or fence
jumping problems, although she lives in a 6 foot fence and I only have a
regular chainlink type.  She's never been trained but she seems mellow so
maybe that doesn't matter.
Any advice from you experts out there?  Shall I take a chance?  I'm taking her
out for a trial visit today.  Intend to spend several hours with her to help
me decide.  
I do know that I need a good companion-type dog and have had a big dog before.
