Re: [PyrNet-L] Need an opinion
Wanted to update you all on the post I had a few days back regarding my
son's encounter with the lab dog in a local store, which chipped his tooth
and hurt his mouth.
First, I want to say thanks to all who gave input. A special thanks to
Janice V., who went above and beyond with encouragement and personal posts
to my kids, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Janice, sorry I haven't gotten
a personal reply to you, but it has been a hectic week. So I'll update
everyone at once.
I wrote the store owner a nice letter (as I said) and a couple days later I
got the nicest phone call from the store owner, Gerald. He immediately
offered apologies for what happened, and especially for the fact that
Bailey (the dog) was there at all that day. -- because he had gone out of
town, and rarely leaves the dog with "substitute" workers at the store. He
had just received my letter as he had returned home. He asked how David
was doing, thanked me for the politeness and understanding of my letter,
and offered to pay any costs associate with any medical care. He also
assured me that Bailey was current on shots (which I already knew), and was
just very kind and generous.
Gerald said that Bailey was getting to be a very old dog, and not as
tolerant as she used to be, and that they had just been talking about
whether or not to keep her at the store any more. They are building a
brand new store just a few blocks away, but on a major road, and had
already decided, he said, to not take her to the store with them when they
re-locate, for fear of her getting out into traffic.
I was back into their store today to purchase bedding and prairie hay. I
saw the dog nowhere -- and didn't ask. We continued business as neighborly
as we always have (felt all that needed to be said had already been done by
the phone call). I'm assuming this means the dog is staying home from now
on.
