If we are the exception, then I'm happy to be one. We train our animals with
a lot of love and I personally have never raised my hand against them. First
off, we both use the Tellington Touch which does much for an animal and
secondly, since I raised 3 teenagers, I can only tell you that pyrs are
easier
 than teens.

Cannot believe anyone would get upset at that humorous, yet real (based on
my Pyr's point of view) post of mine!!!
It's great that you have such easy to train Pyrs and cat. I do think you
are the exception, though. Or maybe we are not talking about the same thing
when we say "train". What are your Pyrs and cat trained to do? And do they
really obey first time and practically every time? And I wish you would share
with us what the Tellington Touch is. I have never heard this term before. It
is possible I do it and just don't know the term, though. There are many
techniques that I have been shown and do and have even taught to others that I
have no idea what the technique is called!!! So please share, always anxious
to hear about more training techniques. Given Albert's age this is a very big
concern for me right now.
Sorry my post bothered you, but I bet many others on the list felt it
really hit home with them and their Pyrs. And had a laugh or chuckle at it.
And believe me I wish I WERE bragging about how easy to train my pyr is!!!
Here's where I'M probably the exception to the rule, though: I LOVED my
boys' TEEN years and loved working with teens!!! (kids' friends, 4-H, scouts,
Explorers, Venture Crew, Saftye club, Youth Council, teen centers, teen dances
chaperone, drama/ theatre, drug abuse prevention programs, summer camps,
ropes/copes courses, rock rappelling courses, canoeing lessons, skiing, ice
skating, rollerblading, hiking, mt. climbing, camping, and even working with
at-risk youth, too!) I used to even take up to 30 teens across the country on
week long trips with clubs. I am now working with teens again (in theatre and
scouts now mostly), because I missed it after my two oldest boys graduated!!!
I have been lucky enough to know some of the best kids in the country in all
50 states, though. The ones that are out there making a positive difference in
their communities and trying to keep others on the right track. I keep in
touch with the local ones I worked with a lot, even ones in other states or
countries. I go to their Eagle Ceremonies, graduations, weddings &
performances. I was even there during the birth of a baby of one gal I'd had
in 4-H, drama, Saftye club, Teen Ambassadors, & Youth Council. Some have
spent Christmas with us. Teens get a bad rap way too much. There are so many
really great teens out there!! And a lot of super young men and women that I
knew during their teen years!!! Can't wait for Christmastime when many will be
back in town and we'll have a lot of get-togethers then.
   Different strokes for different folks......
