What about doing this for the scoring:

Assume players A,B,C, and D place in that order.

Calculate as group of 2 player games:
A beats B
A beats C
A beats D
B beats C
B beats D
C beats D

For games such as perudo where there is no such thing as second place,
just do
A beats B
A beats C
A beats D

Not knowing the intricacies of the scoring system (I tend to glaze
over when those mails fly around) I don't know how well this would
work.
