I was thinking of something similar. This concept is
quite elegant (reducing the multiplayer ratings to a
series of two player ones) and has the distinct
advantage of leveraging the existing code. It also
solves the zero sum problem.
Now I think that any comment to the effect that it
would increase volatility because the result of one
game would be computed multiple times is more than
offset by how slow these games tend to be anyway!
