RE: [HOE] Cyborg question

Actually I'd have to disagree on this one. Let the player play a borg if
he wants. Just remember that as Marshal, there are things you can do to
the character that are infinitely worse than killing him.

And you don't need some super-heavy abomination to do it either.

Imagine the scene...

The borg (a heavy can maybe) has just trashed an abomination (because it was
green, and green is against the can's RoE). have the last burst pulp the
things head. And splatter the rest of the party with it's foul, GREEN
blood...

The heavy can (feeling smug inside his AV8 armour), is brassing up a bunch
o' baddies, and their small arms fire bouncing offa his armour is music to
his ears. Introduce the NPC Junker with just 2 powers: Spirit Weapon &
Flash Gordon. One AP9 Spirit Laser coming up...

While it's true that when the Cyborg is off-line the AI 'keeps an eye open'
it can only react to obvious threats. What about an acid mist in a foggy
area... Or how about making the posse need to get into/through/out of a
swamp? A deep swamp, full of quicksand, with flesh eating bacteria
(abominations of course) in the water...

Just because a heavy can in full armour is about as close to 'death on legs'
you can get, don't mean they can't be taken down with some careful planning
on the side of the baddies.

Here's another one. Everyone has heard of monofilament, and it's uses in
laying traps. 'Encourage' the heavy can to chase someone or something,
through a trap laden corridor, or into a pit full of monofilament lines.
Even it the can's SRU comes out of it intact, it'll be weeks before the can
is back in shape, and it's armour is history as are any external modules or
weapons...

While it's nice to arbitrarily state, "No Cyborgs in MY Game", it's more fun
to allow one, and then literally strip it for parts...

Then again, what's wrong with the concept of a pacifist Heavy can, who is a
medic? Sure, it's armoured up the wazoo, but providing it ends up with or
buys off any 'kill 'em all' RoE's, then who is it hurting?

Ashley.
