As most people have d6, that means, hey, you need an ace! On a single die! But now, if you know how, stopping artery bleeds ain't that hard. Fortunately, I've never had to do it, but I learn how in the army and I still think I can pull it of, two years later. And someone with medicine, even just 1d6, have decent odds for stopping the bleed.

Also, if you have no medical training: Get some, if you have the chance. You never know when you need it. If you never do, you are lucky; if you do need it, you'll thank the day you took that first aid course. Even simple tricks can be a lifesaver (this goes both in DL and in real life).
