[HOE] Re: Witch Healing Poultices

>>Hey Folks, Forgive me if this has come up before -
couldn't find anything in the accumulated rulings on
it, so here goes. Regarding the Witch Healing
Poultice: WOW, is this vague. Had a player (first to
ever play a witch in the group) try to use it tonight
and we ended up with a whole passel of questions:<<
I had a witch in my HOE game last year, and this is
what I did:
>>1.) How many wounds may one poultice heal?<<
A batch of poultice completely heals one external
wound, no matter how bad, but it won't reattach a limb
or work on the harrowed.

>>2.) How severe can a wound be and still have the
poultice take effect?
(ie. can you use it like "skin glue" to reattach a
limb)?<<

See above.

>>3.) How long does a poultice take to apply to a
wounded area?<<

To do it right would probably take 30 secs; I let
people make a Deftness rolls to just splash it on,
taking one action.

>>4.) How long does the poultice take to heal a
wound?<<

I gave it a speed of 1 round.

>>5.) Does a person have to be at rest to have a
poultice take effect?<<

Not the way I played it.

>>6.) Once made, can anyone apply a poultice?<<

Yeah.

>>I have some ideas on this, and I'm perfectly willing
to come up with
some of my own mechanics. I just wanted to know if
there was already
some information available on this stuff. As always,
thanks in advance.<<

I had two things I added to the spell to balance it
out. For one, it took a base of one hour to cook up a
batch, modified by the Witchcraft roll. Also,
whenever someone had the poultice applied, it burned
like hell. They had to make a Stun check, which
started at 11, and dropped by 2 each round. I
envisioned the poultice as a thin paste with the
consistency of Hair Gel, with a pale green color that
glowed faintly. When applied, it worked like Grail
Water in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: It heals
you, but it's not fun.

Oh, and it became a nasty poison if ingested, or used
after it's potency wore off....
;)
