Deadlands/HoE armor doesn't literally "absorb wounds" - it reduces the type
and number of dice of damage rolled against the armored one. Which works
out to the same thing, sorta, in the long run, but "absorb wounds" sounds
more like how the Bodyguard Hex or the Syker Force Field stuff works.

The only thing I know of that might relate to what you're talking about is
in the HoE rulebook, page 97. "In the rare cases a critter has no
additional damage dice besides its Strength, it simply cannot penetrate
anything with an Armor value of 1 or more. Occasionally, the Marshal may
rule big creatures can cause nonlethal brawlin' damage, even to heavily
armored targets."

_How_ a Marshal reading this would know when to "occasionally" do this, and
when not to, is not very clear. There's nothing in the Marshal section. I
guess it's one of those things that gamers are "supposed" to know, and if
you aren't...well hail and well met, good fellow - get thee hence to some
other RPG and return to us when you are an experienced gamer/GM! ;)

Not to pick on Pinacle too much, though - they are hardly unique in using
these, "Well, a Marshal _might_ do this, that or that other...but then
again, maybe not" without any real concrete suggestions kinda statements. I
guess I've just never been clear what the purpose of them are. They're not
helpful to inexperienced GMs, and experienced ons can figure it out for
themselves. Oh well.

That's the only thing I'm aware of right off hand that you might be
referring to in the general rules. There could be some kind of exception of
some sort buried somewhere or another.
