Did he not realize that 'Guts' checks are based on Spirit? Cyborg or
not, you can't do any damage if you get so scared that you run away
screaming like a little girl. 

I made an Infiltrator, didn't go overboard [I think, at least] but given
the Spirit Loss on some of the basic systems that the Can comes with and
some others that were suggested for Infiltrators [I actually only went
with what was suggested and didn't throw in a Samson System or even a
Mind Shield], I put a 4d12 in Spirit and ended up with a 1d10.
