Don't hint at it, but subtlely introduce a few oppertunities to buy some grand
stuff before they travel. Sure, a Buntline or stolen gattling gun may be less
usefull in the future when compared with sub-machine guns, but it
     a) looks cool
     b) carries some of the western flavour the posse are bound to have
and  c) lets them feel like they at least got SOMETHING for all their hard work.

That's what I'd do anyway - if they decide to be scabs and keep their money -
they'll learn their lesson when they're burning the now-useless cash for heat.

But, it's your game, and you've got to do what you think is right.
