Just my two cents, but why would a new harrowed have any powers if they do
not know they are dead?

No, I believe you ONLY get the 5 free points if you're Harrowed from
creation, not from becoming Harrowed. If you die and come back, then you can
spend Bounty to gain powers but you don't get anything free.
