Okay, the reason Jefferson Davis banned the Texas Rangers from Richmond
was that in 1871 he was eaten and replaced by a doppelganger who assumed
his form. This critter thought the Rangers were a threat to its
existence and reassigned them away from the capital of Richmond. After
the events in Dead Presidents, where the doppelganger was killed, acting
Confederate President Eric Michele welcomed the Rangers back to
Richmond.
