Why S&R? I'm sure the good folks at Colt or Sharps might be interested
in making the gun for him especially if it improves a present
design/mechanism. This seemed common practice leading to such weapons
as the Colt Walker and the S&W Schofield; Christian Sharps I think did
form (and end) business ventures as if they were going out of fashion.
If the character managed to raise some investment and played his cards
right, he could find himself having a gun with his name on it (more
pleasant than a bullet) Of course the gun in full production would not
be as good as the made to measure weapon of quality that was made for
him and he'll probably not make that much money from it. Although if
he didn't patent his design first he could find his idea stolen.
Cheers
Roy
