If it makes you feel better, Alliance does some extremely weird stuff as
well.
Even worse, I just spent time last night helping to pack up a former
FLGS... The one where I ran Deadlands (got to clean my apartment and get
a table now, I guess). Stayed up till 1 in the morning toting boxes of
merchandise into the owner's basement so they can try to sell the stuff
online. Very depressing, overall, especially since we had high hopes for
them reopening in a new location.
Real sad... Especially as )at least in the gaming industry) the brick
and mortar stores are, IMHO, the best source of advertising and
cross-pollination for the industry. Now I get to choose between the
local WotC (Pft. Poor selection, bad prices, idiotic staff) or the other
local non-chain store, which is much less convenient and not a tenth as
friendly.
