Re: [DL] Ms. Brock's behaviour (OT)

Hi all,

I just saw these long threads and wanted to put my two cents in.

First, these lists are absolutely precious to me in many ways. One, it lets
me know someone out there still cares what we do. Thanks for that.

Second, I truly consider 90% of the people on this list dear friends. Why?
You pay my bills, of course, but also because A) I've met most of you at
Origins and GenCon, and B) I'd be on this list if I wasn't involved with the
company. I love Deadlands as much as the rest of you. (Well, probably a
little more. ;)).

BUT, the most important reason I stay on the list (and for those of you who
don't know, this isn't a PEG-run list) is because of the wonderful attitude
everyone has here. When we do great work, we're patted on the back. When we
screw up, I get helpful constructive criticism so that I can do better next
time. What I don't get--that every other list I've ever seen has tons of--is
moronic netheads bitching and whining for the simple fact that no one can see
their face. As I've often said of these types, they usually have one hand on
the keyboard and another down their pants.

We are blessed on this list with having very few negative people--a near
miracle on the internet. Let's please keep it that way.

And for the recent negative comment about the moderator, I'm very
disappointed with that remark. The "hands on" moderater for this list give
*tons* of time of his own free will--he doesn't get anything from PEG--and in
5 years I haven't seen him get out of line with anyone (or if he did swiftly
apologize for it). When he is tough, it's because someone threatens to ruin
the harmonious enthusiasm we have here, and for that I thank Allan (and
Afterburner!) wholeheartedly and publicly.

The simple truth is that the gaming industry is very difficult. I rely on the
list for its feedback and most of all to stoke my enthusiasm for trudging on.
Should those things die, I'll unsubscribe from the list. If that should
happen, I'm sure my enthusiasm for this industry will wane as well, and that
might be the day Deadlands wanders off into the sunset. That's not a threat
for everyone to never say anything negative, of course, just to do so in a
respectful way to the other good folks on this list.

Thanks Allan and Afterburner for your constant vigilance, and thanks to the
99% of you who are here because you like gaming and the people who play them.

We're all gamers.
