RE: [DL] HELP - Hindrances & Edges
A player can take as many edges as he wants, but he can only purchase
them with the points he got from taking Hindrances, which means that 10
will be the max a starting character can have in Edges, since you can't
get more than 10 points worth of hindrances.
However, a player does not have to spend all those Hindrance points on
edges, they can go to skills instead if they choose.
Example:
Jake Gates:
I give Jake a few Hindrances:
Curious 3
Grim Servant O' Death 5
This gives Jake 8 extra character points that can go toward extra skills
or buying Edges.
I purchase some Edges:
Arcane Background: Huckster 3
Fleet Footed 2
This leaves me 3 of those hidnrance points left. Since I don't want any
more Edges, I use those three points to raise his Hexslingin' skill by
one and his dodge by 2.
Does this make sense?
Joe

Joe and Bruce,
Thanks for getting back to me, but it's not much help.
Yes, I did figure out that you can have no more then 10 points worth of
Hindrances.
But it's the Edges that is giving me the REAL problem!
Where does it say in the PHB (page# please) on how many points worth of
Edges you can have???
How does one take Hindrance points and use them for buying Edges and
Aptitudes as I quoted earlier from the book.
~Marshal Brock~
BANG ... You're dead.
