I think it also depends on how sure you are of wanting to buy a particular
item.  If it's something that you know you absolutely want no matter what,
then I think buying it off the net is a good idea.  On the other hand, if
you aren't so sure, and want to find out more about the item, then going to
your local gaming store and looking at it before you buy is a better idea.
All due respect to PEG's website, but no website description is likely to
convey exactly how a given item with work for an individual.
