Re: [DL] Civil War songs

Allan,

try at Civil War reenactments. A number of sutlers should have
non-reenacting related items. I would direct you to the "Homespun Songs of"
series by Bobby Horton. Good music played on traditional instruments on
either CD or tape.

"When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again" is on Homespun Songs of the Union
Army vol. 2. Some other good songs are on Omepsun vol. 2, especially funny
ones like "Corporal Schnapps", "The Invalid Corps" and "The Army Bean". Of
course, there are serious ones like "Battle Hymn of the Republic" (which
should be our national anthem, excepting the part about John Brown...bloody
SOB was a freakin terrorist), "Just Before the Battle Mother" and
"Virginia's Bloody Soil".

Hope this helps
