 From my reading of it, I took the Revised Edition to relate to 1877.  The
 blurb on the back of the Players' Guide starts with "The year is 1877, but
 the history is not our own...", and the Tombstone Epitaph bit at the start
 has info on happenings in 1877 (as far as I can remember), and I think the
 background info towards the back of the Marshal's Guide has things that
 happened in 1877 as well...

 As ever, though, I reserve the right to have been utterly wrong.  I feel
 less sure of myself as the seconds go by.
