Re: [DL] Not even pretending to be a DeadLands topic...
Okay...
gonna delurk again......
::raises right hand:: I am a cetified Tolkien Fanatic (or...maybe is that
certifiable?)
BTW...what gender issues? (Im nosy.....thats the historian in me).....Two
of the most powerful people in Tolkien's universe were Luthien (in The
Silmarillion) and Galadriel (but ya have to have read The Unifinished Tales
to get more of the feel for her history). Then, of course, ya have Eowyn,
who was a Shield-Maiden. (which, of course, meant there were others in The
Mark that bore that title before The War of the Ring) She gets the
Witch-King at the Battle of the Pelenor Fields....not too shabby
considering the fact that not even Glorifindel could kill him.
Anyway....since this all started with D&D 3rd edition....I figured I'd come
back to it for half a sec.....its fun. Truthfully....it is. Granted...Ive
been spoiled on systems like White Wolf, Deadlands and Star Wars (by West
End...though I am willing to give Star Wars 3rd Edition a try...as soon as
I finish collecting all the now out of print 2nd Edition books).
Yes...it is partially nostalgia. Plus...some of the old modules are just
plain fun. I run a bunch of them from time to time at Cons here in
Tampa.....G1-3 Against the Giants, A1-4 The Slave Lords, S1 Tomb of
Horrors.....the list goes on and on...until ya get to the non-Greyhawk
based modules...which only a few are worthwhile, Ravenloft being the best
of the lot.
I now return you to your regularly scheduled Deadlands email.....
