Re: Re: [BNW] Superior: Evil or Misguided? [Spoilers]
Hiyas,
Major spoilers....
Actually, I've thought a bit about this as well. And I think Superior was
definately a good guy, but one who had been deeply scarred by what he had
seen and experienced.
Every step he took was influenced by a tragedy... He became an Alpha (ie
practically a god) after both seeing his mentor killed and himself slain by
the Nazis.
In his rage he took on that mantle, and slew various world leaders and ended
the most horrific war of all time.
Kind of a life-changing moment huh? After that he got to be a war hero..and
the most celebrated "big brother/protector" of the United States.
Right up until he failed that is...
He did the deal with Facade after the President and his wife had been
assasinated by the Devastators. Superior knew full well that a war would
develop against the deltas if JFK was killed by deltas/alphas.
So he made his first major conspiracy and got Facade. He betrayed the trust
of the nation in order to save it.
In order to maintain that safety he pushed the Registration Act with all of
his power (influencing Patriot to sign...fighting unregistered...).
Again..all to keep his nation safe, and to never, EVER fail again.
And perhaps the best argument about Superior being a hero is what happened
to him. Facade knew he was a threat..and got rid of him. The bomb was
pretty obviously aimed at alphas..and the setup (getting the bomb directly
to Devastator) was obviously setting up bait that would attract Superior
himself.
(the rest of the alphas were also wiped out probably becuase of their
relative threat level as well)
Anyways, that's my ramblings on it. :)
Talk to ya later,
