[BNW] Superior: Evil or Misguided?
Having read BNW, Glory Days, and Crescent City, I've been thinking a
lot about the big man in blue. Was Superior a bad guy? True, he pushed
along the Delta Registration act and established martial law, but does
that make him a villain? Or merely misguided?
From what I read in Glory Days, Sparky was a decent enough kid.
Could his time in the prison camp have changed him so much? Yeah, he
killed every nazi he could get his hands on, then Kaptain Krieg and
Hitler, but if you were the guy wouldn't you do the same?
One of the things I like about Brave New World is the moral
ambiguity. Yeah, there's heroes and villains in this game, but not
everything you come across is completely black and white. I believe that
Superior had the best interests of the American people at heart, but his
desire to protect the country he loved overwhelmed his common sense. He
went too far too fast and let Kennedy get out of hand. Even up until the
end he was defending the helpless, leading Delta Prime and allied deltas
against the Devastator's minions at the Bicentenial Battle.
So, was he a good man? Yes. A wise man? No.
Opinions?
