Just as a note, another series to catch is J. Michael Stracynski's "Rising 
Stars."  Issue #3 came out a few weeks ago, although there were a couple of 
promo/Issue #0 type things out before that.

It's basically a somewhat milder, non-revisionist history version of BNW or 
Watchmen.  113 "superheroes" were born in a small town when a meteor or 
something passed overhead (the 113 being all the kids in vitro at the time). 
  The government moved in and took control of their upbringing to a great 
deal.  Now, in the present-day, someone is killing them off one by one.
