[BNW] Brave New World primer

Any of you out there read Alan Moore's Watchmen?

I just reread it - and am struck by how close it is to the BNW feel, or
rather how close BNW is to Watchmen. (Not too surprising I guess - since
Watchmen is listed in the back of the BNW book.) I'm reshelving this one
next to my BNW books to hand to anyone curious about BNW. (I do the same
with Desparadoes and my DL books).

For those of you who haven't read it.

In a dark world where Nixon is still president, a group of costumed heroes
go about their lives as events spiral towards a nuclear war. Of course,
amongst them all is one being who is a true superman *coughalphacough*

But I guess it's really just a story about a Comedian. . .

(investigation of 6 year old kidnapped girl whose body was fed to dogs to
hide the evidence)
"It was Kovacs who said 'mother' then, muffled under latex. It was Kovacs
who closed his eyes."
"It was Rorschach who opened them again."
(encounter with owner of dogs)
"Stood in firelight, sweltering. Bloodstain on chest like map of violent
new continent. Felt cleansed. Felt dark planet turn under my feet and
knew what cats know that makes them scream like babies in the night.
Looked at sky through smoke heavy with human fat and god was not there.
The cold, suffocating dark goes on forever, and we are alone. . ."

Okay - maybe Rorschach is a bit TOO dark for BNW. . .

Why did the chicken cross the road?

Robert Heinlein:
Because with the freedom the chicken was given, it was the chicken's
responsibility to do so.
