RE: [BNW] Goliaths: was Leaping, etc.
I would be very cautious of changing disadvantages. This character (Goliath)
can unbalance a combat driven game setting incredibly.
Depending on your guide and the setting (say it was more of a non combat
setting) then other disadvantages could make it impossible for the character
to interact with the rest of the party (as if it isn't already hard enough
for the Goliath to interact with the public)....
I will probably not let a PC goliath into my game (seeing how during the
testing of BNW, A goliath (then called a brick) wiped out the entire party
and at the time I didn't know to add his STR bonus into his wounds)....
How mandatory do you think these disadvantages are? Does a Goliath
really
have to dirt slow? I think I added up the points and these were just
normal disadvantages taken to add points, not additional ones that
gave
him nothing, so couldn't they be traded for other disadvantages? I
don't
think our group would have a problem with that, provided that the
changes
were made to fit the char. and not to negate obvious disadvantages.
Of
course if the concept was incredibly different I might to try to
steer the
player towards a scrapper or tough instead (scrapper kinda seems
like a
more subtle goliath to me).
Just my 2 cents....
