I really don't see what the problem is. I think these power packs are
balanced pretty well. There are several packs that could take down a Goliath
quickly and easily. The quirks are well balanced I think and those specific
ones are what define the Goliath as much as his brute strength. You can
custom build whatever you want to suit your group, but if you change the
quirks, he's no longer a Goliath. It's as simple as that.
I ran a game w/ a Goliath as an NPC. He was out of control and the group
actually had more luck talking him down than doing a full frontal assault.
The think about Goliath's is that they are big and slow... it's like a bear,
they may not strike first... but when they do, whatever they hit is gonna
hurt. The point is not go get hurt. You do a little dancing around your
target, hit a lot and do little nicks, it may take a while, but it works...
it's tactics... hit & run style.. takes down the toughest eventually. If you
run a combat driven game, then Goliaths will probably rule the roost... but
knock them on the ground... and run a car over them.. it works. I've just
played with too many people who look at the biggest and toughest and found
them the easiest to take down with some basic tactics.
