[BNW] Goliaths: was Leaping, etc.

3) Fighting. Okay, this is just irking me. What's the most accurate

While some might have a problem with this, I don't. Goliaths, as stated
before, do one thing, and do it well. They fight and take a pounding. So the
Goliath can hit well and hard? So? They have the "Dirt Slow" disadvantage,
which means they get an average of 1 action, maybe 2.
Consulting the notes I have from the two games I've run, in game one, the
combat went 4 turns. The Goliath got, in order, 1 action, 2 actions, 1
action, 2 actions. Second game, different Goliath, 3 turns, got 1 action, 2
actions, 1 action.
The other characters usually managed to maintain a consistant 2-3 actions,
Gunners getting 3-4 from their speed bonus. So while the Goliath may be
accurate when fighting, he doesn't go often enough to be unbalancing. Esp.
when you add in wound mods. Armourgeddon AP rounds *will* do a number on a
Goliath. So blow that one action you got on that stun check, so you can get
hit again and next round make another stun check. repeat as neccessary.
As a player, nothing is more frustrating than: "Ok, I get one action, near
the end of the round. Swing (rattle-rattle) Damn. Missed. I'm gonna get a
coke, anyone else want one? Can I read your comics?"
So let the Goliath pound something. Then he's done for a while, and the
target can spend an action making their stun check.
Which reminds me. Only the Goliath has several required disadvantages, more
than the other packages. He's Huge, Obvious, and Dirt slow. Severly crimps
the character so they almost have to be registered, can't sneak real well,
do much investigation, and other things mentioned before. Not sure I don't
like it, but just noting it.
And why does the example have the First Move trick? If he averages 1-2
actions, it's useless to him! The trick lets you burn one action to do the
rest of your actions at once. I have 2 actions. I burn one to do...the
action I already had? I can see Gunners and Bouncers using this to great
effect: I have 3 actions, use one and pop this guy twice to drop him, using
several autofire rounds. But the Goliath? Take a different one.
