We're not big on the cards for initiative - for Huckster castings it's okay.
It's just a pain to juggle that many cards in even mid-sized battles.
Chips are...so-so. I like the mechanic in general, but the concept of "Your
Survival Points are also Your Experience Points" is a somewhat overused
concept (Torg, DC Heroes, Deadlands/HoE). Sometimes what it adds up to is
if your character was the target of a couple of lucky die rolls or
something, you have to spend your Hero Points/Possibility Points/Bounty
Chips...and therefore end up with less experience.
BNW addresses that "problem" (if you consider it such) by separating out the
two. Experience is experience - delta points are delta points, and never
the two shall meet.
Of course, that raises a minor kinda thing we noted. Anyone ever seen a
last-minute "rush" on spending delta points. Since there's no reason to
save them, we've noted it occasionally gets to a point where everybody dumps
them on a single less-than-significant roll near the end of the night.
It's certainly the players' choice to spend DPs as they wish. Still, it
seems like whether they achieve a certain key skill roll can sometimes
depend more on when during the session it occurs...

Hmmm, well it wasn't actually my point. :) What I meant is that Strength
has an impact on _more_ areas than Smarts. It gives you a bonus to Skills,
it gives you better lifting and jumping, it gives you the ability to take
more wounds, it gives you more damage in HTH combat. By comparison Smarts
simply gives you a bonus to Skills.
Now, granted, very few systems have all their attributes absolutely balanced
and equally useful among each other. What % of DND characters worry about
Charisma unless their character class requires it? I'll cheerfully admit
that. But by the same token, and acknowledging that as a given, I'd say I
still have some concerns with the seeming over-importance of Strength in
BNW.
