Just got this e-mail from the Pyr rescue group out of Richmond, VA. Glad I contacted them - they really seem on the ball! Can't save them all - but one is better than none!

Just to follow up regarding Hawkeye, we have contacted the shelter and told the shelter that we will take him into rescue if they do not have a suitable family. The shelter has someone interested who is going to talk to us so that we can help screen the applicant. The shelter is willing to post a requirement that Hawkeye be placed with a family that has a secure fenced yard. Also the shelter requires that all adopted pets be spayed or neutered. So we will work with the shelter to help find him a home. If the shelter cannot place him, our rescue will take custody and place him with a foster family until we find his forever home.
Thanks for taking an intest and helping to make a difference in Hawkeye's life!
